Chittagong War Cemetery
The Chittagong Commonwealth War Cemetery or Chittagong War Cemetery is a Commonwealth War Graves Commission burial ground in Chittagong, Bangladesh.[1]
History
This burial ground was built up to demonstrate the respect for the warriors and other people who kicked the bucket in World War II. The graveyard was made by the British Army, and there were initially around 400 entombments. Graves have since been exchanged to this graveyard from the Lushai Hills (Assam) and other segregated destinations, and from Chittagong Civil Cemetery; Chandragona Baptist Mission Cemetery; Chiringa Military Cemetery; Cox's Bazar New Military and Civil (Muhammadan) Cemeteries; Chittagong (Panchalaish) Burial Ground; Dacca Military Cemetery; Demagiri Cemetery; Dhuapolong Muslim Burial Ground; Dhuapolong Christian Military Cemetery; Dohazari Military and R.A.F. Burial grounds; Jessore Protestant Cemetery; Khulna Cemetery; Khurushkul Island Christian and Muhammadan Cemeteries; Lungleh Cemetery (Assam); Nawapara Cemetery (Assam); Patiya Military Cemetery, Rangamati Cemetery; Tejgaon Roman Catholic Cemetery; Tumru Ghat Military Cemetery and Tumru M.D.S. Doctor's facility Cemetery. There are currently 731 Commonwealth entombments of the 1939-45 war here, 17 of which are unidentified.
There are a further 20 remote national entombments, 1 being a sailor of the Dutch Navy and 19 Japanese troopers, 1 of which is unidentified. There are additionally 4 non-war U.K. military internments.
Location
Chittagong War Cemetery is situated at Dampara, 19 Badsha Mia Road, 22 kilometers north of the airplane terminal and 8 kilometers from the port. The place which was once in the past paddy fields, now at that point been developed.[2] It is close to expressions of the human experience school and closes by Finlay's Guest Houses close Chatteshwari Road; an outstanding street prompting the Chatteshwari Temple. There is no CWGC street bearing sign.
